Hi all! This is my first time posting and I'm hoping for some help or at the very least, support. I can't believe I'm admitting this, but over the period of about a year I spent thousands of dollars on Keen due to a very messy personal situation and medical issues. This is money that came out of my own earnings and that I couldn't afford to lose. Readers took full advantage of me and would keep me talking to them on chat for hours at a time, multiple times a week and sometimes in a day. I easily spent hundreds of dollars in single sessions talking about nothing new. I was wondering if anyone has any idea if I could recover any of the lost money? Luckily I have a good job and haven't been financially ruined by this, but I was still taken for thousands upon thousands of dollars which at the bare minimum is a major ethical breach. I don't want any trouble and REALLY don't want to get a lawyer involved but think what happened to me falls under criminal activity, especially because I read with many of the same readers repeatedly. I think it's also worth mentioning that I currently have no desire to use Keen anymore (and haven't in a long time) so it's not like this would ever happen again. Thanks for any advice you can give.
Did anyone force you to make these calls? you're an adult, you make adult decisions. You made the calls, you spoke to readers for hours on end. It's like gambling, you take 10k to craps table and blow it, it's not the fault of the dealer or even the casino. First, we need to stop blaming others for our bad decisions. This has nothing to do with reviews either. there are readers on this board that have been bashed and said they are horrible etc and they were the best readers i've had, and their keen reviews reflected it as well. So lets not play the blame game. You could have hung up, you could have stopped calling. But you didn't because you got something from it, doesn't matter if the outcome came true or not, you were calling because it gave you emotional satisfaction, it tamed those thoughts you had, even maybe with some it was like therapy. All things that cost money for a persons time and you don't get refunded if they don't work. People spend just as much on therapy and come out saying it did nothing for them, do they get a refund? no.
There is NO ETHICAL breach here, you're trying to make yourself feel better by saying you were taken advantage of by willingly calling psychics. I'm sorry, i know this is a hard pill to swallow, but we need to take responsibility for our own actions and stop blaming others for our choices. I've spent my fair share and i don't even want to think about the amount and what i could have done with that money. But then i remember the difficult times i went through, and had no one to talk to or who even understood what i was going through. And it helped me get through some difficult times. It also helped me see things in a different light.
What criminal activity? You have buyers remorse and now are trying to blame someone else for your own mistakes and actions. You made adult decisions, you are now dealing with adult consequences . This for entertainment purposes, you agreed to terms of use before you embarked on your journey. Keen has iron clad policies. Unless they threatened you with curses and told you to wire them thousands privately, you don't have a case.
i know many won't like this dose of truth because it's always easier to blame others than take responsibility for oneself. you learned a lesson and going forward you will not make it again or maybe in a moment of despair you will. And even if you do and need that emotional satisfaction, then remember that's okay as long as you know that and take that responsibility.
