A big part of me says it's just them guessing and it happens to be true. A small part of me hopes that there are some real psychics out there, and hopefully I stumble upon some of them.
You won't know until you keep trying. I thought of various ways to 'test' psychics but didn't take it any further. If I was still in university it would be very fun to scientifically test a hypothesis. I suppose if I ever decided to go back to university to get some sort of higher degree I could do a thesis on it. You would need a lot of money and a large number of psychics to conduct the research to have any statistical significance, however.
I believe in energy and energy fields. Scientifically that has been proven. It's actually astonishing at how much of our being is made up of energy. We are primarily energy. Our physical bodies are just carriers of this energy. This makes our physical beings insignificant compared to our energetic being.
We each vibrate on various frequencies. Some higher some lower. We send out these vibrations into the universe and what happens is we get back what we vibrate out.
This is a precursor to law of attraction stuff, which I believe in. What we think we become. I forget who said that, but it's a famous quote. We become our thoughts. Ever experience those people that are perpetually broke and are always complaining saying "I don't have ANY money. I'm broke!!! I'm never going to get money"? Well, they are in essence creating that. They are getting back what they are projecting.
You can get what you want in this life by meditating, setting intentions, visualizing, and then letting go. Put your order into the universe and the universe will answer and give you what you want. This is called manifestation.
Be careful though because if you keep asking the universe over and over again for the same thing you'll block it. Imagine going to a restaurant and placing your order with the waitress. She jots down your order and goes to fetch your drink. When she comes back to the table you say 'thank you' and she's off to the next customer. You don't hound her and say 'I want the filet mignon medium well, where is it?'. She would look at you puzzled and say, 'the chef is working on your order in the kitchen'. Imagine every time the waitress comes by the table you ask her where your order is and what you want. She's going to become annoyed and may intentionally mess up the order or tell the chef to put other orders in front of yours because you are being so outrageous.
So, the only reason I mention that is because manifesting requires an element of trust. You must trust the universe to give you what you want otherwise you'll doubt it and will continue asking creating that block.
I went off topic. But, I feel like it's important for those that feel like they have no hope that YOU CAN create your desire. What is it you want? You create it. Law of attraction is POWERFUL. We are multidimensional human beings.
Some are just more connected to the energy and spirit world than others. It's like some of the people we knew or know are good at a sport or sports. They are just naturally good at them. We are able to play the sport just like them, but we may not be as good. This is how I perceive people with gifts.
